| Paul stood in front of the Areopagus and said "Athenians, I see how extremely religious you are...I found an altar with the inscription, "To an unknown god." What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you." Acts 17:22 Though Paul was in Athens, Greece, he may as well have been in the streets of Delhi, India. India has been called, "the land of many gods." The people claim to recognize 33 million gods. It is a land of stark contrasts. Beautiful architecture stands in the midst of indescribable poverty. World-class technology exists alongside third world hunger. Advanced society has comingled with primitive superstitions. A land of millions of gods is starving for the gospel of the Almighty God. India is the second most populated nation in the world (only China has more people). More than 1 billion people, over 15% of the world's population, live in India. One report estimates India's population increases every year by the same number as total amount of the people living in Australia and Sri Lanka combined! In the major city of Delhi, as well as provinces in northern and northeastern India, there are a handful of Christian ministers who serve remote villages to share the love of Jesus Christ in practical ways to the people in these regions. These ministers are native born Indians who have committed their lives to Jesus greatest commandments and His great commission. They practice the words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37 and 39, as they love God with all of their heart, soul, and mind. They are loving others as themselves. They face dangers and sacrifices that we cannot imagine in the United States and Canada. Some, including their families have been martyred for their faith. However, the church is growing and the love of Jesus is spreading. But, the fields are certainly "white to harvest." Matthew 4:35 Let me introduce Pastor N. He is one of the Christian who was tortured during the heavy persecution that occurred last year in the area. During those threats, he fled with his wife and children into a nearby forest. They hid for 3 days and nights without food, drink, or milk for their newborn baby. Several Christians were murdered, as their homes and church buildings were burned. The Christians still live in refugee camps. They can't go to their land to harvest. Instead, they are forced back to refugee camp. Local pastors continue to look for opportunities to reach Orrisa with the gospel. Another member of these servant-leaders is Pastor P. Among his ministries is the distribution of clothes and other supplies for needy villagers. Later, his father and brother were severely beaten by radicals who persecute Christians throughout the region. However, the Father's glory is revealed as the gospel of Jesus spreads and brings hope to those who need to know the true love of God. The good news of Jesus is spreading throughout the regions. During the past two years, this small band of brothers and their families have: - Contacted more than 16,500 people with the good news of the gospel.
- Visited 580 villages that had not heard of Christ's love for them.
- Planted 22 churches. In two weeks, God established two churches in two separate remote villages that had never before heard the gospel.
- Established 245 cell groups (house groups) are meeting regularly in fellowship.
- MORE THAN 1,200 SOULS HAVE BEEN LED TO CLAIM THE REDEMPTION MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH JESUS!

Land of Contrasts
With so many people, India is a nation of great contrast. From world wonders to abject poverty. Life is tenuous at best. However, eternal life is found knowing God, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, who He sent. John 17:3 The mission of NoblePurpose Ministries is to - Help and encourage Christian leaders to fulfill their noble purpose and reflect God’s glory to a world that needs Him! The time is now! In keeping with that mission focus, in 2010 we traveled to India and join with local leaders to visit several villages where they are teaching the people the gospel of Jesus Christ and impacting them with His love. We plan to visit again this year. The purpose of this trip is to encourage believers to serve in God's sovereign ministry. Such efforts reflect Paul's vision when he says, "... my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named…” (Romans 15:20-NKJV) One of the key laborers is an Indian pastor named Philip. Philip told me that the prayer of his youth remains, "Keep me close to you Lord, as I study, preach, and pray. So that I may reach and teach the lost to follow You today." There are great needs for the church in India. Their needs are simple, but important to enabling the ministry of these faithful servants. They need: - Laptop computers and projectors to help with teaching and preaching in the villages
- Seven bicycles (or motorbikes) to help pastors travel to villages.
- Literature for 2011
- 3,000 Bibles
- 10,000 copies of the gospel of John
- 40,000 gospel tracks
- Discipleship training seminars and workshops
- Regular monthly support to sponsor one of eleven pastors who are working in various villages
In the fall of 2010, NoblePurpose Ministries visited India and served with local Christian leaders to encourage and equip Christian leaders as they serve the people of India with the the Gospel of Jesus. While in India, we will held two "Equip, Encourage, and See" workshops for pastors in different locations. More than 30 ministers, evangelists, and pastors attended from India and surrounding nations. ~ NoblePurpose Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-pofit organization dedicated to a common vision of building unity of effort throughout the Christian community. |
